Fake Job Offer Scam Targets Young Professionals
A growing number of young job seekers have reported falling victim to fraudulent job offers promising high salaries and remote work opportunities. Scammers typically reach out via email or messaging apps, posing as recruiters from reputed companies. Victims are often asked to pay a “registration fee” or “training deposit” to secure their position.
In one case, a recent graduate received an offer letter that looked authentic, complete with company branding and HR signatures. After paying the requested fee, all communication from the recruiter suddenly stopped. Attempts to contact the company revealed that no such job opening existed.
Authorities warn job seekers to verify company details through official websites and avoid making any upfront payments. Legitimate employers do not charge candidates during the hiring process. Reporting such incidents promptly can help prevent others from becoming victims.
